DRK's Award Winning Staff

Sunday January 17th, 2010 twenty-five local sports volunteers were recognized

for their outstanding contribution to athletics in their communities. Out of the twenty-five
recognized, four are part of our very own DRK staff.
 
Andrew Gibson, Michael Spence, Brian Chiasson and Jamie Kennedy have received the
award from Jim Watson –Ottawa West M.P.P for their hard work and dedication to
student athletic programs at D. Roy Kennedy Public School. Their involvement with
intramurals programs, coaching and promoting a healthy lifestyle continues to make
a big difference in the lives of DRK students.
 
Maria Hunter, also a member of our DRK staff has been recognized by the M.P.P. of
Ottawa Center, Yasir Naqvi, for her contributions to healthy living and athletics in her
community. Jarrod Williams has also been awarded for his efforts in building a healthy
and active athletic community at D. Roy Kennedy.

Help for HAITI!!
Go for Gold! Go for $2010!

Our community of character is not restricted to our neighbourhood, but
is a global effort. Here at DRK, staff and students have generously offered
their time and organizing efforts to host some fantastic events in the
upcoming months to raise funds to help all those who are suffering in Haiti.

Babysitting & People Saver Courses with the Red Cross

 

Consider taking the following available courses during the upcoming PD days, March Break,

or on a weekend.
 
The Babysitting Course covers the responsibilities of a babysitter, safety tips for children of

all ages, basic child care skills and what to do in case of an emergency ($65.00)


All Babysitter courses run 8:30 – 4:30 at Red Cross, 340 Catherine St

A 4-level program developed by the Canadian Red Cross to teach safety awareness and first
